t.A.C.T.

The History of the Therapeutic Alternatives in Crisis Training program dates back to the early 1980's. The founder and co-owner of PES, Inc. was involved in statewide training of crisis prevention within the State of Florida (ACT, TEAM) through Florida Mental Health Institute at University of South Florida. The development of the T.A.C.T. program stems from years of research and development through extensive time spent in each specialized setting in order to evaluate the least restrictive and safest interventions at every level of care.

Examples of techniques include, but are not limited to:

  • Punch/Kick Response Blocking

  • Grab Releases

  • Hair Pull Release

  • Bite Release

  • Headlock Release

  • Guiding/Transporting Methods

  • Advanced Restraints, as needed

The Techniques for Effective Adolescent and Child Handling program is focused upon intervention with children. With a few exceptions, it is generally more appropriate for children under 100 lbs. and around ages 10 & under. For older children, the T.A.C.T. program will suffice.

Examples of techniques include those within the TACT program, with the substitution of a few child specific implementations.

This program also offers a strong introduction and lesson on Trauma Informed Care, which teaches awareness and sensitivity to the prevalence and impact significant events may have upon children and their development, including their behavior.
